The basics
chinese water dragons originate from the forests of india, north and southern china, thailand, laos, cambodia, burma, vietnam. their average lifespan is about 15 years with some living over 18 years. they are not really recommended for beginners as they require more care for example the housing must be humid constantly and must be sprayed with water twice or 3 times a day. another reason why they might not be suitable for a beginner is that they don't all like being handled.

Vivarium
the minimum size for an adult chinese water dragon is 6ft, as the general rule is the vivarium must be twice as big as the water dragons length.

  • Basking lamp hot enough that the hot end of vivarium is about 90f
  • UVB bulb
  • Substrate that does not cause impaction (eco earth)
  • Hides so that they can hide when scared or want to retreat
  • Water dish (big enough to climb in) (must be cleaned daily)
  • Feeding dish/rock
  • Branch/rock to bask on
  • plants to hide in/under
